BUILD & INVENT IMPROVING REDSTONE SKILLS: MINECRAFT 303

Great class - instructor does a good job of mediating and answering any questions. My son loved it and was asking if he can takie it again - before it was even over :)

BUILD & INVENT IMPROVING REDSTONE SKILLS: MINECRAFT 303

The examples were impressive and the kids were encouraged to use similar materials and building techniques. …[T]he instructor Lindsay was very encouraging and offered support to him when needed. By the end of the class, Jackson was really happy with what he had built. […] As an observer, I was very impressed with how this was handled and we plan to enroll in other classes in the future.

BUILD & DESIGN FOR SKILL IMPROVEMENT: MINECRAFT 202

My daughter was the only student signed up that day so I worried that the class would be canceled. Also, we had never used outschool before and had a few minor issues/concerns at the beginning of class. I shouldn't have worried. Alexander (forgot last name - sorry) took care of all issues efficiently and then my daughter got one on one instruction the for entire class. Now my daughter is asking when she can take another class!

Fun class in Minecraft. Teacher was great about including all the kids and keeping them on task. My son has requested these classes repeatedly.

HOLIDAYS IN MINECRAFT: BUILD YOUR OWN HOLIDAY CREATIONS

This has been my child's favorite Outschool class so far! My 10-year old enjoyed this class so much the first time, we signed him up to take it a second time this summer. Both times, we were really impressed with how well the kids were able to work together to write a script, build sets in Minecraft, record the voices, and act out the script--all in a week. The instructors kept everyone on track, and made it super fun. Each kid's personality shone through in the finished product, which the instructors edit together after the camp is finished with music and bloopers. It's clear that the instructors enjoy working with kids and playing Minecraft themselves. Thank you to Miss Lindsay and Miss Ashtyn for providing such a fun camp with a truly impressive movie to show for it!!

MINECRAFT MOVIE MAKING CAMP

We have taken many classes on Outschool, and can honestly say this was one of my sons top 5 classes. HE LOVED IT. Spent every night after class telling me about the story the kids were working on and how much fun he had.

Seasonal Camps

I searched for hours for a camp where kids could act in their own Minecraft movie, and how lucky that I did find such a summer camp, and that it was such a pearl of a camp. At first my kiddo froze when he was asked to look for facts on Egypt, but he stayed with the group, and loved the creating a Minecraft world together: after helping with the pyramid, a major group endeavor, he took the responsibility of building the airport and was very proud of his work. Building a script was new to him but he clearly loved the process, he was extremely focused, listening to everyone's contributions, giving his opinion and getting his idea for his character on the table. He loved making the film. The adult(s) leading the film's creation was amazing, listening to 5 kids speaking in pop up fashion, shepherding their ideas into a script, marshaling their energy into building, and teleporting the characters as needed so everyone was on set to say their lines. And best of all were the kids, so alive with their project. Thank you for a great camp and hurray for kids.

The program was very rewarding for both of my children. My son created his own game and my daughter's writing skills have increased dramatically. They are looking forward to the next classes.

My rising 3rd grade son really enjoyed camp at Playful Digital Learning. He hadn't previously played Minecraft much, but quickly learned and collaborated with the other students to build a surprising amount of creations in Minecraft. I was skeptical at first thinking that my son would be just playing video games all day. However, going through the camp we learned that it also involves doing lots of research, collecting thoughts and writing, and creating a power-point-like report that gets presented to the parents at the end of the week. We're planning to enroll him again. Thanks PDL!

My son had a great experience at Playful Digital Learning. He loved being able to play on the computer during his school break and I loved he was improving his writing skills. Win-win!

LISA JEANNE

My son and daughter both loved this camp. Using gaming/computers to help get my son interested in writing was a big success. He learned how to think through the process to make his writing more clearly represent his thoughts. My daughter’s confidence was boosted by writing and showing off her finished progress. Thank you!!

SHANI TAPIA

After-School Programs

The best thing about this is it's not just only you. You get to play with other people and have partners and all come up with one idea.

Marcus (student at Andersen elementary)

This helped me concentrate while writing. Whenever I'm in a noisy classroom environment, it makes me distracted...this helped me write better.

Isaiah (student at Andersen elementary)

This innovative program is child-centered, motivating, and highly creative, and will help your child to become a better writer!

Ms. Nelson (teacher at Andersen elementary)

My experience with Playful Digital Learning was extremely positive. Mixing games with education is one of the best ways to improve cognitive function in kids. My child has truly benefited from her experiences with PDL. Thank you for giving us the experience!!
